Adam Daugherty
1. Favorite grazing-related book or resource
Adam doesn’t recommend a specific book, but he relies heavily on field days, hands-on learning, and podcasts. He also credits Purdue’s SIPAC research farm and his brother-in-law for much of his early education and technical guidance.
2. Favorite tool on the farm
It’s a tie: his 95 hp Kubota tractors for their versatility in hay and daily work, and his enclosed-cab John Deere Gator, used for moves, hauling gear, and even warming cold calves during winter.
3. What would you tell someone just getting started?
Don’t hesitate to partner with someone. Many older landowners want to keep cattle but need help. A written agreement can create a win-win situation and fast-track a young grazier into land access, herd building, and real experience.
4. Where can people find out more about you?
Adam is on Facebook, though not very active. He welcomes messages from listeners and is happy to talk by phone if someone reaches out.
