Todd Barkley of Barkley Ranch

Todd Barkley of Barkley Ranch

I ranch with my wife Molly at Baker Montana which is in the South East corner of the state. I am the fourth generation on the original Barkley place. Molly and I bought our neighbors ranch in 2007 after leasing it for a decade. We operate on 12000 acers of owned and leased land. 2200 acers of crop and 1000 acers of hay the balance is nativeba tame grass pastures. We run 350 mother cows. We run all our heifers over to breed and our fall calving calves and light steers as stockers. We practice non traditional grazing and winter feeding techniques. We use permanent and temporary electric fence and have for the first time this year introduced virtual fencing with the gallagher e-shepherd system.
